This is something I thought of a few years ago as a work of science fiction. I never wrote anything beyond this but still like the concept.
There
were people in the beginning. Humans
ruled the world. Fragments of their
existence continue to be unearthed. As
beings, they were clever and able to manipulate the earth to meet their own
needs. An ancient text was once found
which read that man should subdue the earth.
That they did. Too bad they were
eventually overcome by the Pebots.
How
the Pebots rose to power is a topic of debate.
Everyone agrees that they were created by humans. Like many of the books and movies created by
humans, the common theory is that Pebots came to understand their power and
decided they no longer needed to take orders from inferior creatures such as
humans. The story goes that Pebots
eventually eliminated all of humankind.
However,
another popular story shows that humans began dying off from an issue called
global warming. A certain man created
Pebots to continue a species of man that wasn’t organic but machine. It seems this man couldn’t stand the thought
of earth being ruled by bugs or vermin.
A
few extreme individuals strongly state that Pebots are actually a mechanized
housing that holds the remains of humans.
Such preposterous claims are made by individual Pebots but not one of
them has been willing to be opened up do determine if pieces of flesh and bone
are tucked away inside them. For all
their zeal, they are not willing to demonstrate their devotion to such a
thought. The idea of being dismantled
doesn’t appeal to their higher reasoning.
Nonetheless,
Pebots rule but coexist with other creatures of the earth.
