Fractured

I saw you there
Eyes tightly searching
You opened them
revealing your success

I recognized pain
Sorrow
Momentarily you held it
Admitting the barbs
Resigned to the omnipresence

I saw the switch
As your face lifted
Our eyes joined
But your facade
Now in place 
The boiling pain 
turned to ice

You looked away 
Our eyes
Fractured
Like your heart
